About Caribbean At Heart

Caribbean At Heart was born from a feeling many Caribbean people know well: the feeling of missing home even when you are building a life somewhere else.

While studying and living overseas, I found myself craving the small, familiar pieces of Caribbean life. The sound of soca, reggae, dancehall, calypso... The people and the warmth in how we greet each other. The food, the sayings, the bright colours, the laughter, the stories, the sunsets, just liming at home. Every visit back home felt like soaking up something I did not even realize I had been missing.

Over time, I saw that same feeling in so many others. Friends and family living across the world carried their islands with pride. Second-generation Caribbean people, raised overseas but holding on to the traditions, foods, music, and stories passed down at home. Sometimes, people in the diaspora were the ones keeping up with what was happening in the islands before we even did.

Over the years, I also met people who were not born in the Caribbean, but felt deeply connected to it. The visitors who return year after year. The people who dream of life in the Caribbean. The ones who feel something special in our warmth, creativity, resilience, and joy.
